Pilot study on the telomerase activator TA-65® for early age-related macular degeneration.

Telomere shortening and corresponding cellular senescence of the retinal pigment epithelium contribute to the changes in age-related macular degeneration.
The activation of the enzyme telomerase can add telomeric DNA to retinal pigment epithelium chromosome ends and has been proposed for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration.
This study, which focuses on macular degeneration, is a model for the treatment of age-related diseases with TA-65®.
