Shortened telomere length is associated with increased cancer risk: a meta-analysis

Telomeres play an important role in maintaining chromosome integrity and stability, and shortening telomeres are involved in the initiation and progression of malignant diseases.
The results of this meta-analysis suggest that the presence of shortened telomeres is a marker for the susceptibility of cancer in humans, but future studies should confirm these findings.
